Duties

Residents of Justin approved the adoption of a Section Type A sales and use tax at the rate of one-fourth (1/4) of one percent sales tax for the dedication to economic development. The Type A is a non-profit, tax exempt Texas Corporation, which is a separate entity from any other board or commission of the City of Justin.

The types of projects permitted under Section Type A include the more traditional types of economic development initiatives that facilitate manufacturing and industrial activity. The Section Type A tax can be used to fund the provisions of land, buildings, equipment, facilities, targeted infrastructure and improvements that are for the creation or retention of primary jobs and that the Corporation's Board deems suitable for manufacturing and industrial facilities, research and development facilities, recycling facilities, distribution center, primary job training facilities for use by institutions of higher education, and regional or national corporate headquarters facilities. After a public hearing and voter approval, the Type A Corporation may use their revenue to undertake projects eligible under the Type B Corporation.

The goal is to ensure that Justin fully focuses on the future and remains an "Open for Business" community. The Type A is an important link between business and the Justin community. Property sites are available for business relocations or expansions. Justin is prepared and looks forward to providing financial incentives that will attract and retain both new and existing businesses.
