Development Services

Development Services

The Development Services Department is responsible for facilitating, organizing, and directing the city's growth in accordance with City Council’s vision. The Development Services Department encompasses three different divisions: Planning and Zoning, Building Inspections & Permits, and Code Compliance. Depending on the service you require, please go to the relevant page.

Planning & Zoning

The Planning and Zoning Division handles platting, zoning, and variance requests. This division is also responsible for safeguarding property and the public welfare through the enforcement of the City's zoning codes. If you are a landowner looking to build for residential or commercial purposes, start here.

Building Inspections & Permits

The Building Inspections & Permits Division handles building permits, inspection requests, Certificates of Occupancy, and other related requests. This division aims to protect the health, safety and welfare of the general public by enforcing the city's Code of Ordinances and the International Building Codes. If you have verified that your land is properly platted and zoned, and wish to build, start here.

Code Compliance

The Code Compliance Division handles all matters relating to the adherence to the City of Justin Code of Ordinances. This division is responsible for investigating complaints and inspecting properties within the City related to nuisances and zoning violations. If you wish to file a complaint or follow up on a case, start here.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

The GIS Division creates, manages, analyzes, and maps all types of data. GIS connects data to a map, integrating location data (where things are) with all types of descriptive information (what things are like there). This provides a foundation for mapping and analysis that is used to provide some of the tools on this website.
